National Wear Red Day!
National Wear Red Day®, is celebrated each year on the first Friday in February, to bring greater attention to heart disease as a leading cause of death for Americans.
While nearly 80% of cardiac events can be prevented through modest changes to diet and lifestyle, heart disease continues to be the No. 1 killer of women. Cardiovascular disease does not target any specific age group; nearly 45% of women age 20 and older are living with some form of heart disease. It’s time to change that fact.
According to the American Heart Association, the color red can be a confidence booster and make us feel powerful. That may just be the reason they chose the color red to declare the fight against heart disease. It is also the color of our hearts.
Why should you wear red today?
